The Menswear trend is nothing new in women’s fashion. Even in the 1920s women were sporting collared shirts, slacks and traditional colors.
Here is Marlene Dietrich in the roaring 20s:
In the iconic movie, “Annie Hall”, Diane Keaton made menswear fashionable in the late 70s.
Currently, many style icons are also wearing this trend. Such as Julianne Hough, Olivia Palermo, Gwen Stefani, Olivia Munn and Emma Watson.
I personally love this; I love the structure and crisp, classic essence. A whole outfit can be centered around one accessory, in this case, a watch. The watch I am using is from invaluable.com. This is an auction website that has art, jewelry and décor.
Styling this trend can be difficult. To pull this off, you need to have a balance of masculine and feminine touches. I would wear traditional men’s pieces, fitted to a women’s body. Personally, I adore the look of a classic button down with high waisted pants. And keep the makeup very feminine… like a hint of blush and a dramatic red lip.
A red or pink chunky cardigan brings a feminine side as well. As for shoes, a classic riding boot or a heeled oxford brings a unique taste.
